DRAGON'S FIRE GOLF CLUB (905-690-0069)
Ontario Golf Course Review
Dragon's Fire Golf Club in Burlington, Ontario is one of the greater Toronto area's beautiful gems. Upon opening in 2008, the course won numerous awards including "Best New
Course in Canada" in 2009 by Golf Digest. This and the many other accolades received by this classic parkland layout did not surprise us, as Dragon's Fire combines a
wonderful layout and friendly country club service in a pristine and tranquil setting.
The property features a small clubhouse with a golf shop that offers a nice variety of golf equipment, clothing and accessories as well as a nice patio overlooking the 18th green.
The licensed snack shop located next to the clubhouse provides both hot and cold items, while catered tournaments and outings in an elaborate portable banquet area can be
arranged through the event manager.
There is a large targeted grass range on property along with a large practice green and a short game practice area with chipping green and bunker. Cart paths are paved
throughout the course. Yardage markers are located on the fairway at 100, 150 and 200 yards out (and at 250 yards on par 5's). Pin placement charts are located on the golf carts
offering detailed information on the daily hole location.
Players can choose from 6 sets of tees: 7,202 yards (73.3/136), 6,942 yards (72.7/133), 6,639 yards (69.8/125), 6,161 yards(69.0/121 for men - 63.9/128 for women), 5,622 yards
(65.5/114 for men - 69.7/118 for women), and 5,087 yards (67.3/112 for women). There are many "risk/reward" opportunities on the course so careful tee box selection along with
club selection is key to having a good round here.
Dragon's Fire is immaculately conditioned from tee to green. The fairways are long, ample and feature slight undulations which provide golfers with various playing angles to the
greens. There are 70+ sculpted sand bunkers on the course that penalize errant tee shots and offer protection for the greens, which are for the most part large, slightly undulating
and slope toward the front. Needless to say, the greens at Dragon's Fire are perfectly manicured and provide a fast and fun putting experience. Golfers will appreciate the nice
variety of holes - from par 3's that demand a carry over water to wide-open long par fives. The course will certainly offer an exciting challenge to players of all levels.
Just a short drive into the countryside from the GTA, Dragon's Fire is a course you will want to play (or slay!) again and again and it is highly recommended by Two Guys Who Golf.
