Brooklea Golf Club (705) 526-9872
Ontario Golf Course Review
Brooklea Golf Club is one of Georgian Bay's hidden gems. This 18 hole parkland style championship layout runs through pristine hills and recovered farmland with ponds and
natural habitat framing many of the holes.
On property is a large practice facility with a targeted grass range, practice bunkers and greens. A small practice putting green is located behind the pro shop. The pro shop is
well stocked and staffed with knowledgeable friendly personnel. A beautiful clubhouse features two event rooms and a grand ballroom, a licensed restaurant that is open for
breakfast, lunch and dinner daily (a fabulous brunch is served on Sunday), patio dining, and men's and women's locker rooms with showers and saunas. A swimming pool is
also available at the clubhouse for golfers - a perfect way to end a round.
The practice facility at Brooklea is extensive with a grass range, practice greens and a Teaching Academy offering private and group lessons and clinics. A nine hole executive
course is also located at the practice facility.
Four sets of tee boxes measure 6,610 yards, 6,293 yards, 5,942 yards, and 5,540 yards. Slopes and ratings are 133/72.1, 129/70.6,. 126/68.5 (131/74.0 for ladies) and 121/72.0
respectively. Although the forward tees offer some relief from hazards on the front nine, golfers of all levels will experience a challenging, yet enjoyable round at Brooklea.
Water comes into play either in the form of ponds or a stream that winds its way through part of the course on 5 holes and 45+ bunkers (some are pure white sand - rare for this
area) dot the course. The landscape over which this tract is constructed is a nice combination of rolling hills, nice wooded areas, natural habitat and wetlands.
Brooklea Golf Club was in excellent condition on the day of our review - with nicely landscaped tee boxes on many holes, and greens and fairways in very good shape. The front
nine is impressive - with some elevation changes and many carries over the stream and dried stream beds. The back nine zigzags through a hilly wooded area and the densely
tree-lined fairways with ponds and bunker hazards make this part of the course a true challenge.
Located in Midland, Ontario - in the heart of the beautiful Georgian Bay area - Brooklea Golf & Country Club is a must play for anyone visiting or living in or near the Muskokas.
The service, the extensive facilities and great course layout will provide a wonderful round of golf for any level of player. Highly recommended.
