MOUNTAIN CREEK GOLF CLUB (613-623-8919)
Ontario Golf Course Review 7/25/2005
Mountain Creek Golf Club on White Lake Road in Arnprior is an 18-hole par 72 layout that features well
maintained fairways and greens along a rolling terrain. The conditioning on the bluegrass fairways and bent
grass putting surfaces our late July 2005 visit was quite good considering the drought that hit the area for much of the summer.
Large, mildly sloped greens that often slope from front to back - some crowned in front or on one or both sides -
provide players with true rolling surfaces that present ample opportunities to score par or better. Many of the
holes play quite level, with the exception of those at the beginning and ending of each nine. There are also a few
natural areas to navigate, and sparsely rowed trees often line the fairways. Yardage stakes at 100, 150 and 200
yards help golfers to find their way about the course, and small flags indicate front, middle and back hole locations.
The 6th is a good birdie hole if one can avoid the pond situated short right of the green, and number 8 is an
interesting dogleg left that also can yield a low score - especially for long hitters that can shape their drives from
right to left. The front side finishes with a par four that features a creek crossing the fairway about 100 yards
away. The back side plays much shorter, - 2813 yards compared to the 3310 yards from the back tees on the
front side. Three sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6127 yards/120 slope, 6003 yards/118 slope and 5443 yards/112 slope from the forward sets.
Generally speaking, this is a very player friendly layout, which can be enjoyed by all levels of golfers. Walking is
allowed at all times, and this is a good walking course, as the distances from green to tee are very reasonable.
On property at Mountain Creek is a clubhouse with small pro shop and lunch bar with beverages and hot/cold
sandwiches. The outdoor patio has a barbeque grill and affords nice golf course views, and can be used along
with the dining area to facilitate outings of over 100 people. There also is a practice green, but no driving range
on location. For more info, visit our page for Mountain Creek with direct link to their website by clicking here.
