Kleinburg Golf Club (905-893-4653)
Ontario Golf Course Review - July, 2006
Kleinburg Golf Club in Kleinburg, Ontario is a championship 27-hole golf club that winds its way through the pristine countryside and presents incredible challenges to even the most experienced golfer.
Established in 1961, Kleinburg Golf Club opened as a private country club that has since gone public. The large
clubhouse features a well-stocked pro shop, a snack bar with an extensive menu that offers breakfast, lunch and
dinner items and patio dining, as well as an expansive banquet facility that can accommodate up to 250 guests. The
event and catering staff at Kleinburg Golf Club provide top notch service and are very experienced in organizing
tournaments, special events and weddings. Also on property is a practice area with putting and chipping greens.
An extensive Junior Program is available throughout the summer month and includes one lesson a week as well as use of the course 7 days a week, computerized handicapping, and clinics.
The course is very well marked with red, white and blue stakes in the middle of the fairway indicating front, middle and
back pin placements. Small flags on the pins designate hole locations. The fairways, tee boxes and greens are all bent
grass while the rough is a mixture of bluegrass and rye. Most greens are ample in size with mild undulations and slopes
, and some are two tiered. On the day of our visit, the course was in beautiful condition and the landscaping very nicely maintained. Three sets of tees are offered on each of the three nines.
The Gold Course measures 3,432 yards from the blues, 3,037 yards from the whites and 2,527 yards from the red
tees. This tract features some beautiful wide open fairways with some incredible carries. Hole #2 is a par 5 dogleg
right that demands an accurate drive off the tee over a deep ravine. From the whites a shot of about 260 to 270 yards with land you in the perfect shot for your uphill climb to the green.
The White Course is the shortest of the three nines at Kleinburg with the blues measuring 3,093 yards, the whites 2
,855 yards and the reds 2,572 yards. But don't be fooled by the yardage as this course has teeth. The fairways are
rolling and sloping with mild undulations and elevation changes. The back to back par three numbers 4 and 5 demand
target golf skills as they play over a deep ravine and through a densely wooded area. Many of the holes on this course play through some beautiful woodland.
The Red Course measures 3,187 yards from the tips, 2,954 yards from the middle tees and 2,599 yards from the
forward tee box. Golfers will enjoy the parkland style layout with tree-lined fairways, beautiful water features and
some elevation changes. Numbers 1, 7 and 9 demand carries over water off the tee. The number 1 handicap here is
the par 5 fourth hole double dogleg with bunkering strategically placed at the turn and a pond on the right beaconing balls on the approach to the well-bunkered green.
Although each of the three nines have certain unique features, all 27 holes offer play through and around some of the
northern GTA's most beautiful countryside with stands of well-aged maple, spruce, pine and willow trees. Water is featured on 10 holes and bunkers number 55+.
Kleinburg Golf Club is just a short drive north of Toronto off Highway 27 in an area that is quickly becoming an
upscale neighborhood. With rates topping out at $68 in 2006, it is a great value, and whatever combination you
choose to play at the Kleinburg, this course won't disappoint. Don't miss it! For more information and a link to this course's website visit our information page by clicking here.
