AMBASSADOR GOLF CLUB (519-966-2425)
Ontario Golf Course Review 9/09/05 - Photos updated July, 2008
Upon its opening in August 2005, Ambassador Golf Club immediately became the premier open for public play
golf destination in the Windsor area. Our initial impression of this Thomas McBroom links style design was that
its conditioning is outstanding for a such new course. This same course, if located in the GTA area would cost
over 50% more than the current $81 weekend rate, which includes a $16 cart fee (walking is allowed at all times, less the cart fee).
The open links layout incorporates bent grass fairways bordered by mounding and high grass rough, with
plentiful bunkering along a rolling terrain. Medium to large true rolling putting surfaces are often protected by
sand traps, grass depressions or mounds that make the green complexes appear more intimidating than they
actually are. Sculpted tee areas lead to ample landing zones, with trouble in the form of water, sand and fescue, awaiting shots that stray too far left or right.
With four sets of tees and outstanding conditioning, the Ambassador golf Club is inviting for all levels of players.
Golfers can choose from distances and slopes that measure 7033 yards/ 132 slope, 6665 yards/126 slope,
6121 yards/120 slope and 5338 yards with a slope of 113 for men and 116 for women from the forward tees.
The clubhouse includes a pro shop, locker rooms with showers, casual dining restaurant for lunch and dinner,
plus banquet/outing facilities that can accommodate up to 240 guests. A snack shop also features hot & cold
items including breakfast sandwiches. Practice facilities include a range, short game area with sand bunker, plus large putting green.
Extras include compartmentalized carts with weather covers and mounted ball & club washers. Sprinkler heads
on the fairways provide measurements to the center of the green, 150 yard stakes and 100, 150 and 200 yard
plates are also visible. Small flags indicate front, middle and back hole locations on the undulating but true-rolling
putting surfaces. Water comes into play in some shape or form on 6 holes, and 79 sand traps line the fairways or
are situated greenside. In some instances the bunkering is quite intricate and sprawling - making it seem as
though there are many more...Fescue often lines the outside of the traps, as indicated in the photos above.
The Ambassador Golf Club is located across from the Windsor Raceway, less than 30 minutes from the bridge.
It provides a high quality golf experience at affordable rates - and is highly recommended by Two Guys Who Golf. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
